Ecclestone denied return to F1 executive board

Fresh doubt is being cast over Bernie Ecclestone's F1 reign. News is circulating around the Suzuka paddock on Friday that the sport's 'supremo' has been denied his planned return to the executive board.
Although he always remained chief executive, the 83-year-old had stepped down from the parent company Delta Topco amid his recent corruption trial in Germany. When he controversially settled that case recently, Ecclestone said he expected to return to the board. "I stood down for obvious reasons, but I'll be back on again now," he had said.
But the British newspapers the Telegraph and the Daily Mail report that the board has turned down the opportunity to reinstate Ecclestone. The Telegraph explained that "during the last board meeting, he (Ecclestone) did not meet certain 'conditions' required for him to be reinstated". The Daily Mail added: "The wildest, but not necessarily ill-informed rumours suggest that Ecclestone could be discarded within a fortnight." (GMM)

If true and not changed promptly, by reappointment, this would be a major-major development of broad implications across the entire F1 community! Please track closely.

I would not lose any sleep if he gets the boot... 3 F1 teams might go belly up because of his decisions

Ecclestone has been part & parcel of every major adjustment in F1 since the death of Senna and "safety revolt" by Stewart and other drivers 10 years ago. Also, all of the newer race venues & many of the most lucrative sponsorships are attributable to him and his circle of incredibly rich acquaintances. They like the access to F1 that he arranges for them in exchange.
By reducing Bernie's personal power to trump deveolpments that he doesn't want, or to resist those wanted by others, there's a real sea change which might save the 3 teams on the edge. (The other teams DO NOT want three-car teams for next year.)
