Run-off Areas are not Helping with Tyre Blowouts

According to Red Bull Team Principle Christian Horner, he believes that the current trend to create more Run-off Areas as opposed to Gravel Traps, contributes to the probability of a tyre blow-out.
Having a large area surrounding the track, means that drivers can now take liberties and push beyond the limits which results in the tyres incurring more punishment. Which essientialy could be the explanation to why we have a seen a lot of blowouts in last few years.
“It's not an easy job for Pirelli, every service is different, every kerb is different in the circuits that we go to,” Horner said. “Obviously the drivers are abusing the circuits, more than when there were perhaps gravel traps or because the run-offs are different, so they can at any advantage a driver can find, he will obviously use. You know Eau Rouge is a very different corner to what it was 10 years ago."

Not enforcing the rules to keep the cars within track limits are not helping with tyre blowouts.

True, and it's so very inconsistent, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't...
Safety should always come first but maybe they are indeed creating too much run-off and too little gravel traps.
If there is a good chance to get stuck in the gravel when you get it wrong, you will be more careful ;)

I think the lack Tyre Testing doesn't help either, if they could test the compounds more frequently, then that would enhance the quality.
