Toro Rosso and Ferrari have played down media reports that are doing the rounds on Thursday. A report in Italy suggested that although Toro Rosso will use Ferrari's 2015-specification engine this year, there is a chance the Red Bull junior team will upgrade to the latest version of the Maranello-built 'power unit' later in the season.

Both sides moved to dismiss the rumours. "This is not even an issue for us," Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost told Speed Week. "I have no idea where it even comes from." And Ferrari spokesman Alberto Antonini added: "I've not even heard of that story. It would definitely not be easy to adapt a car to a different engine specification," he said. (GMM)

If that happened, I could see the next days headline being "Adrian moving from RBR to Toro Rosso"

Sounds weird, Ferrari were planning some significant changes to the 2016 PU so it would not be simple swap. And I don't really understand why they would do that later in the season and not from the start.

    • I have to agree: from what I've heard, they aim to make it significantly lighter and smaller, so it'd require a big change in the chassis aswell as engine right inside a season, and I dont think thats possible. And as TR themselves say, its not even a concern for them to get a 16 spec Ferrari PU.
