Championship leader Nico Rosberg and Mercedes have played down rising speculation about the German driver's expiring contract. Reports have suggested Rosberg is on pole position for a new deal beyond 2016, given his six straight wins.
But Mercedes team chairman Niki Lauda told Bild newspaper in Berlin: "Nico is not thinking about a new contract. He is currently so strong that while the topic interests the media, for a driver it is nothing," he said. Rosberg agreed: "This is currently not an issue for me. But I do want to continue for many years here (at Mercedes), that's clear."
Some reports have said Mercedes will want to quickly secure a deal with the on-form 30-year-old, but former F1 driver Marc Surer is not so sure. "Mercedes is still in the best bargaining position," he said, "because all other options for Nico are worse. And without a new contract in his pocket, a driver goes hungry." (GMM)

It shouldnt be: he has been very consistent, and takes good care of his car and so on, and while he isnt the best on the grid, he is good enough to deserve a place in a top team.

hi,
i think between rosberg and hamilton is no difference, i think they are nearly equal, although the statistic speaks for hamilton..
Listen to Prost in the BBC or SKY Senna special: He said that Psychology is "a big big part of a racedrivers performance" and this is the reason why i think the gaps had been like they were. Take 2014 for example, Nico was quicker in qualifying up to that point where mercedes changed the tyre pressures.. Spa came where Toto and Niki absolutely overreacted in my opinion, i bet all i have they´d never reacted that way if this had been the other way round..
Then hamilton was always on pole.. They changed the pressure in monza last year again and rosberg was always on pole.. So i think they are basically the same except the point team-player and bad mouthing in the press.
If Lewis is behind Nico, Lewis starts to badmouth.. Same thing he did with fernando at mclaren. Remembering Lewis´ words:
"nico isn´t german"
"nico hit me on purpose"
"nico grew up in monaco"
"nico always had all the money"
"nico hit me"
"nico came a lot closer during virtual safety car"
before china gp: "nico said we should split the bill"
it´s always Nico this and Nico that.
Plus the point Lewis doesn´t care about Nico and his car.. Remembering Bahrain 2014? USA 2015? He always drove like someone who doesn´t give a fuck about team performance.
So all in all Nico deserves the place at Mercedes more than Lewis, that´s a fact in my opinion.. Nico is by far the better teamplayer and has the better package than lewis..

Yeah, I feel Rosberg deserve this championship. But Mercedes could give the constructor's title to Ferrari, so we get the best of both world. ;)
