Helmut Marko: "MotoGP hot on F1 wheels"

Dr Helmut Marko has acknowledged that F1 is coming under threat by its two-wheeled equivalent when it comes to being the best form of top motor racing. As he this week ruled out returning to formula one, Flavio Briatore insisted: "The 'show' of racing has gone to MotoGP."

Marko, the head of Red Bull's driver programme, does not disagree.

"With MotoGP we can see that the most important thing is the rider, who stands clearly in the foreground," he told the Austrian newspaper Tiroler Tageszeitung.

"There is also a more balanced situation there with the top three manufacturers, with four riders always able to win," Marko added. "So it is never clearly recognisable who will win qualifying or the race.

"MotoGP is also closer to the fans, and the tickets are 50 per cent cheaper," he said. "All this contributes to the boost they have at the moment."

But F1 is making key changes for the future, even though the revised chassis and engine rules for 2017 and beyond were hotly contested.

Marko said: "As usual, what we have is a compromise, but at least there is a change on the chassis side.

"With the engines, a so-called (performance) convergence method is being introduced," he added, "so we will have to see if it really achieves a more balanced competition."

Moto Gp is better at showing the race.

Sky F1 is all over the place like the Red Bull Air race.

Bad camera/director work is the main issue. showing replays during battles, showing team management when a driver has an issue, showing the pit crew after an altercation, showing everything except the race.

someone needs to tell them about modern tecnology, Picture in picture pit stops while showing the leader or car that the pitted car is trying to beat out of the pits. wait atleast 5 laps before showing replays of the start, showing it while battles are plentiful on lap 2 is dreadful, missing key moments on track, show cockpit view of pursuing car while showing race in picture in picture.

stop showing the garbage, we dont want some kind of crappy reality show drama stuff. we want to watch the race!

And Ted, stop making up rumors and then but drivers on the spot with your garbage, ask real questions, like, tyre deg, car balance, performance predictions.

And we want to see more on board coverage during qualifying and race, lets see a whole lap at minimum, show a car from each team and show use it with the thermo cameras on.
F1 is supposed to be the best, but modern technology and dinosaur directors are bad for fans.
FIX your damn live F1 app, show current lap times, fastest lap times and sector times for each driver. show pit stop lap numbers and time in pits. show intervals between each driver and use a red or green arrow when drivers are gaining or losing time.

use a drone at race start from above, be creative F1, invest in your racing show and make it the best.

end of Rant. Thanks F1 Today!
