Former Red Bull driver Robert Doornbos has advised Daniel Ricciardo to tone down his post-race rhetoric in the wake of the Monaco grand prix. The Australian was nothing short of livid after finishing second to Lewis Hamilton last Sunday despite dominating the weekend overall.
Responding to Ricciardo's anger, one Australian bookmaker even refunded bets on the 26-year-old, agreeing that the normally chirpy driver had been "sabotaged by his own team". Indeed, Ricciardo had said after the race that he was "screwed" by Red Bull not only in Monaco, but also two weeks earlier when Max Verstappen won in Spain. "That's nonsense," Doornbos told the Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport Totaal. "Red Bull would never do that on purpose; I think you win and lose together."
Nonetheless, Doornbos said he was highly impressed with Ricciardo's winning form in Monaco. "He was faultless. It was his weekend," said the former Minardi driver. "After qualifying I talked to him for a while and he said his car was incredibly good. So when you have the best car and can't win, for sure he has a right to be annoyed but he should watch what he says in the heat of the moment."
No longer fuming, Ricciardo now suggests that he found not winning in Barcelona and Monaco so difficult to cope with because he feels he deserves better results from his F1 career so far. "I don't want to say it because it's arrogant," he said, "but I believe a lot in my ability. And I should be getting more rewarded. I'm 27 very soon and I don't even have anything close to a world title and I believe I should have something like that very soon," he told Britain's Sky. (GMM)

Ricciardo needs to work for it, not win races like in 2014 where he stole 2 wins from Vettel due to SCD lottery. now he is getting a taste of how Vettel must have felt losing his rightful win to Ricciardo.
Sure in a top form car he can be a winner, nothing has been shown by him that he can do better in cars totally not worthy of being anywhere near the front on pure merit. He has proven one thing, max is nothing but hot air and hype, will give him that. Title? Woah there fella! time to come back to reality on planet earth and work very hard for it. Don't expect it be an easy ride, for that he can try for a merc seat.

Robert Doornbos should have actually paid more attention. Ricciardo never claimed that it was done on purpose only that the team had screwed him with their incompetence in calling him in without having the tires ready.

Canada will be the acid test I think and we will then know how the rest of the season will run.
Only one thing is certain, Mclaren have no chance of a podium, this year or I suspect next year. As for them saying they have the best chassis, utter nonsense I think

Best? Most definitely not, since both drivers say the car lack downforce and they lag behind Red Bull too much. But it is definitely a good chassis, arguably better than Toro Rosso's, so it might be within the top 4 chassis this year.

Ex-Williams driver Damon Hill tweeted "Try not even having a full-time drive until you are 33! Keep doing what you're doing and it will come. Or it wont" Ric has definitely got plenty of time to be a world champion. Hamilton done it with McLaren, Button with Brawn, Vettel with RBR, these guys were at the right place at the right time. I strongly believe with the new regulations coming into force next year that RBR will be a strong team again, McLaren will still fail due to the engine and they don't know how to make a good chassis anymore seeing as there best engineers left for both Mercedes and RBR. Like @MCLARENFAN1968 said, snake oil all the way haha.

McLarenFan - this snake oil, is it made from Black Mamba snakes?..... The Black Mamba comes in McLaren livery and can do an explosive 12mph - the perfect McLaren partner.... I also recall another black mamba, but I think that takes batteries......... Perhaps Ron's got one of those as a truncheon for hitting Bouillier with

Ricciardo fears, if Red Bull next season has a WDC capable car, that the team will get behind Verstappen when he could be behind in points mid-season. It looks to me he tries to find sympathy for next season already so they will treat him as the nr. 1 driver from the get go.

lol the delusions are setting in already! Hype boy crashed 3 times and that is going to "worry" Ricciardo when owned Max in both races. It must be really sad being you lot with such a low intellects to come up with that. Do you even logic brah?

Yeah, Ricciardo is massively worried about Verstappen's first mistake in qualifying in a years time, surely he can do better and be completely faultless a whole season long. Hell, I might even suspect he think he's infallible because he locked up three times in the race with one time at the same place as Verstappen but he still managed to finish.

LOL flawless! You are describing Ricciardo, your boy in contrast crashed 3 times, flawed this year and last year at the same venue. A venue where the weak get exposed every time they hit the track. Hype boy Max crashed not once but thrice! TROLOLOLO. You really need to disengage that reality distortion field of yours. Highly injurious to your mental health, just saying.

You mean the Ricciardo who at his 25th GP, after 7 years of formula driving, was still struggling to beat a F1-reject?
Since when is locking up 3 times in a race flawless?

A lot will depend on choosing the right team for the future.
Next year could be a good opportunity with RB.
