Wolff: "We are having these discussions after every race"

Toto Wolff has admitted that incidents between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are becoming frequent after the pair once again collided at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Mercedes duo came together at the first turn on the opening lap, dropping Rosberg down to ninth as Hamilton lost the lead to Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.

Mercedes Head of Motorsport said afterwards that while it wasn't an ideal situation, it isn't the first time the team has found themselves in such a situation.

"It was a hard manoeuvre," Wolff said of the collision. "Lewis said that he had understeer, that's what I would say. From the team's perspective if you're starting one and two and you come out of Turn 1 two and nine that is not pleasant. But I guess I have a deja vu, we are having these discussions after every race"

"The question is how much can you really manage it from the outside? Turn 1 in Canada is a difficult one and there is a concrete run-off area," he added. "If there is a wall then probably we would not have the discussion. But then if you are on the inside you dictate the line."

Mercedes drivers have won all but one race so far this season, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen winning in Spain after both Hamilton and Rosberg retired after an opening lap collision.
