Max Verstappen had a difficult start to the day in practice for the German Grand Prix.

The Red Bull Racing driver wasslower than Daniel Ricciardo after the first run and he complained that the grip on his rear tires was going away fast. In the garage the team worked on the tyre pressure, with the change paying off.

"I have built quiet" Verstappen told his website. "We have during the first free practice adapted adjustment and it worked out well. The car felt well when braking and entering curves better. The grip and the balance of the car is good. All in all I am satisfied with this start."

Verstappen finally finished in fifth place, just in front of Ricciardo. The young Dutchman completed a total of 29 laps. In second practice he improved to fourth, completing 40 laps.
