Nico Rosberg has refuted claims that Lewis Hamilton is in meltdown, claiming that the three-time world champion is working harder than ever.

Hamilton currently sits 33-points behind Rosberg in the championship, with the German winning all but one race since the summer break. After an engine failure in Malaysia, many observes have said that Hamilton is in meltdown but Rosberg has slammed such claims.

"I can tell you behind the scenes he is as focused as ever, especially after a setback like Malaysia," he said. "He was working the longest hours I've seen him work with the engineers in many, many months trying to find those little bits of lap time, so I've seen him working extremely well and focused."

"I haven't seen any self-destruction," he added. "The Lewis I saw was massively motivated and focused, and anyway it's about me getting the best out of myself, and not focusing on what Lewis' state of mind is."

Lewis usually has the upper hand in Free Practice and often even in Qualifying. Not always, certainly, but often enough to show his skills are not slipping. But when he does not put that performance in where it counts, he won't stand a change against a teammate who is consistently on his ass, and kicking it.
