Rumours are growing that Bernie Ecclstone's reign in Formula One is nearing an end. With new owners Liberty Media taking over, many are predicting the Ecclestone will not play a prominent part.

Mark Kleinman, a renowned business journalist for British broadcaster Sky, said a decision regarding the future of the 86 year old supremo may happen as early as next week.

"An announcement could be made as soon as the first half of next week," he said. "The sport's veteran boss has been offered a less hands-on role - with a title such as life president - but Liberty Media is determined to demonstrate that it is taking F1 into a new era by pursuing a radical overhaul of its commercial operation," Kleinman added.

Sky also included that possible replacements to take on the role that Ecclestone possessed will be Ross Brawn and Sean Bratches, a former ESPN executive.

  • Yeah he will change from open money swindler to behind the scenes main controller with puppets at the front to do his bidding. Which means nothing changes and situation' all normal.

    Got it.

  • Best would be if he gets a role with little direct control on the money side. He has no doubt much experience and could help out somewhere else, far away from the money.
