Rumours has begun that McLaren are unhappy with their engine partnership with Honda after the team signed a roadcar deal with BMW to work on a programme.
Honda have been making steady progress with their engine, and have come a long way since the speed and reliability issues they suffered back in 2015, when they first re-entered the series.
Some experts have begun to speak out that McLaren are eyeing up all possible future possibilities.
"This is an exciting project that plays to the strengths of all partners," said McLaren Automotive chief Mike Flewitt.
Manuel Franco, the correspondent for the Spanish sports daily AS, said he has heard rumours that BMW is in fact working on a "V6 turbo", which is the configuration of today's F1 power units.
"It is also inevitable to recall that there was recently talk of BMW's return to F1, and that there may be a secret hybrid V6 turbo project ready to launch," Franco said.
BMW pulled out of F1 after 2009, following a falling out with Sauber.

BMW has already said that they wont rejoin F1 anytime soon, so I doubt they'll enter as a McLaren works supplier. But anything is possible.

LOL "Experts" wherever you hear that you just know it's another moron loud mouth with no actual active career in the industry, while the real experts with real jobs are too busy doing real work. Those guys don't have neither the time nor the interest talk to the stupid press with stupid comments.

More of an expert that you, troll.
McLaren BMW F1 team would be great. If Honda don't perform in 2017 McLaren and BMW should work something out.
