Valtteri Bottas has hit back at Lewis Hamilton's father Anthony, who suggested that his son can end Formula 1 careers, sending a warning shot to the Finn. Bottas joins Mercedes for 2017 after four years at Williams.

Hamilton Snr said: "Anybody who goes up against Lewis needs to have planned their career correctly because it could be a career-ending move when you go up against Lewis."

When asked about the "career killer" jibe by the Finnish broadcaster MTV, Bottas commented: "Well, I wouldn't want to be my teammate, either. Let's wait and see. The season starts soon so we'll see how it goes," the 27-year-old reportedly smiled.

Bottas is signed to a one year contract at Mercedes, meaning he will have to prove himself quickly and let the team know they made the right choice in signing him.
