The racing season well and truly gets underway this weekend, as four popular racing series hit the track in what is expected to be a fascinating year for world motorsport.

So, if you've got an unbusy schedule and have plenty of spare time over the weekend, you may feel like tuning into different racing categories so see some close and exciting racing.

Bahrain Grand Prix - Formula 1

The event on everybody's lips will be Formula 1, as we continue to find out what Ferrari have up their sleeves as they look to fight Mercedes at the front. It could be a battle that continues all season long, and Lewis Hamilton believes it will be the closest ever battle he's faced.

There will also be an eye kept on the Finn's of Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen who have so far underperformed, being outshone by their respected team mates.

Red Bull will also be analysed and will hope to be somewhat closer to the front, rather than behind the frontrunners and ahead of the mid-field, stuck in a space of their own. Their China podium was encouraging, as was the stunning drive by Max Verstappen who climbed from P16 to P3.

Bahrain Feature and Sprint Race - Formula 2

The FIA Formula 2 championship kicks off this weekend in what is set to be an unbelievably close championship. Rebranded from GP2, the series pitches young yet experienced drivers on a path to Formula 1.

The team's championship has been won by four different teams over the last four years, making it so unpredictable in who can turn up in Bahrain this weekend the strongest.

The series supports the Formula 1 championship and there will be plenty of eyes on drivers such as Charles Leclerc who won the GP3 championship in 2016, and Antonio Fuoco who will be hoping to challenge Leclerc at Prema.

6 Hours of Silverstone - World Endurance Championship

Since its introduction in 2012, the WEC has proven to be one of the most popular racing series of the year, attracting plenty of established and experienced drivers. Four categories are thrown onto some of the most challenging circuits in a test of not only endurance but also speed.

The absence of Audi will no doubt be felt this year, and only six LMP1 cars will take to the track to battle it out. However, close and merciless racing is guaranteed in the WEC.

With Audi no longer on the grid, it will be up to Toyota to take the fight to Porsche at the front, and the Japanese manufacturer has already laid out the expectation to win this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, which they were cruelly denied in the final minutes of last yea's event.

Race 1, 2 & 3 - FIA Formula 3 European Championship

Many professional and experienced racing drivers label this series as one of the most crucial in setting them up to a future towards Formula 1. Young drivers who have only spent a year or two in single seater racing enter this hard fought and incredibly tough challenge.

One man will be the focus of most of the attention, however, as Mick Schumacher makes his first vital step towards motorsport's pinnacle, something many fans are craving to see.

Since the official team's championship was set up in 2013, Prema has been untouched and are looking this year for a fifth consecutive championship. It won't be easy, as it is every man for himself on the track with these young, talented individuals.

I'll enjoy none, as I will forcefully spend the Easter weekend with family.. no way to watch football either in what could be a great sports weekend. Until Max entered F1 I could record these races and replay when I got home. But coming home without knowing the result yet, is no option anymore lol.
