Felipa Massa has praised Paddy Lowe for the work that the Brit has done since joining the team. Towards the end of last season, it was rumoured that Lowe would be leaving the Silver Arrows after only three years for Ferrari.

However, his destination turned out to be Williams, making a return to the team he started his career with in 1987. He was appointed the role of Chief Technical Officer. Massa, who has been racing for the Grove-based team since 2014 says Lowe has done a tremendous job.

"What he has done is unite the different departments," he told UOL Grande Premio. "Before, one area would fight with another because a part was taking time to be ready, for example. That has changed. Now the areas are united in the right way, just like a big team," Massa added.

However, due to Williams being a privateer team, he says that they are unable to compare financially to the bigger names: "I think we cannot compare on the financial side, as there are a lot of things that make the difference between a big team and a middle team," said Massa.

  • Well, I must say Williams hasnt impressed me this far in the season. Force India should arguably be their main rival, but they have just blasted off, and it looks more like Force India will challenge Red Bull than Williams is to challenge them at this rate.

    Indeed after signing up Stroll and handing Bottas to merc the Williams team seems to has lost its way. They should be signing drivers that have a far bigger impact than Stroll. I think that Williams' driver choices has been uninspiring over the last couple of years. Somehow a bottas/Massa or Massa/Stroll combination doesn't impress me. Surely they must be able to find better able drivers than their current lineup. This lineup seems to be purely based on finance. Stroll for this dads money and Massa to keep Martini within contract. They should have been going for drivers like Ocon;
