Lance Stroll retired from another Grand Prix yesterday, this time only laps from the end of the race as the Canadian was seen pulling into the garage in the dying embers of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The 18-year-old was running outside of the points and was last when he brought his car in to retire. He said that he was suffering from brake and tyre temperatures during the safety car period, which didn't help him or his FW40,

"I was driving OK but then we had an issue at the end so we had to stop. Unfortunately, these things happen, especially at Monaco. There were several incidents, which meant that the tyres lost temperature and it was really hard to get that back. But the next race is my home event and I’m feeling positive going into that. It’s going to be very special to go home and to know that our car can be strong there."

I've said this from the start, he should never have gotten a race seat with Williams, he has disappointed the team. Obviously plays the PlayStation more than the simulator. He couldn't manage his brakes, and had to be told to do the accelerate/brake procedure, that's what has done it for me.

  • It's sad. I wanted him to be the next Verstappen. He is simply not ready for F1. Yes... He retired on reliability, but was running last. When was the last time Massa out qualified and out raced anyone so comprehensively? Never I believe.
