Antonio Giovinazzi will be back at the wheel of a Formula 1 car later this year, as the Italian continues to build up experience. Giovinazzi, who is the Ferrari reserve driver, will be out at the British Grand Prix for Haas, driving in the first free practice session.

The 2016 GP2 runner-up made his Formula 1 debut in Australia two months ago. He filled in for the injured Pascal Wehrlein at Sauber who was recovering from injuries suffered at the Race of Champions. While he impressed in Melbourne, his second race outing in China didn't go so well, as he crashed the car in both qualifying and the race.

“In a year that’s already been filled with great opportunities, I’m proud to have another one with Haas F1 Team,” said Giovinazzi.“Being the third driver with Scuderia Ferrari is obviously a great place to be, and getting seat time in these FP1 sessions with Haas F1 Team will keep me sharp.

"I’ll be able to take what I’ve learned in the simulator and apply it in actual race conditions. I’m proud of the faith Ferrari and Haas have in me and gracious for the seat time Kevin and Romain are sharing with me.”

Ferrari will also run a test with him on June 2nd in a modified SF15-T on the wet tyres. Giovinazzi is also rumoured to be making a Sauber return if Wehrlein isn't cleared fit to race in Canada following his collision with Jenson Button in Monaco.

The Italian will also get a run out at Hungary, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico Brazil and Abu Dhabi, in place. Six of those seven sessions will see Kevin Magnussen give up his seat, while the other one, at Mexico,  Grosjean will step out to allow him to drive.
