Lando Norris will test a McLaren F1 car in Portugal tomorrow and Friday, McLaren has confirmed. The young Brit joined the Junior Programme of the Woking-based team at the start of the year, after winning the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award last December.
The 17-year-old will drive the MP4-26, the race winning car that McLaren fielded in 2011. Normally, the team selects a one-day test at Silverstone after winning the aforementioned award, but this year Norris is an exception. He will be testing around Portimao, in Portugal.
Last year, Norris raced in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 series, coming out on top. He dipped into European Formula 3 at the end of last season before securing a full-time drive for 2017. Currently, he's joint on points at the top of the standings with Joel Eriksson.
