A 10-place grid penalty is looming for Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. Yesterday morning, Renault had to change the MGU-H on both cars, which is the fourth that Ricciardo and Verstappen have used this year.
If they are to fit a fifth element before the end of the season, the drivers will receive a 10-place grid penalty. In a statement from Renault, it came to light that the MGU-H had to be changed after the second free practice session. Renault brought an upgrade to Austria with the hope of improving reliability.
In the last few races, there have been issues for teams running with the Renault power unit. Verstappen has retired from a number of the previous races while Toro Rosso has also had its issues with the power unit.
Renault announced that the MGU-H in all cars running with a Renault engine was replaced. The French manufacturer announced that the decision was taken regrettably, but it was not prepared to take any risks.
