Palmer looking forward to racing in front of home crowd

Jolyon Palmer will turn up at Silverstone in high spirits as the Brit will race in front of the home crowd. Palmer got very close to the points last time out in Austria, crossing the line in 11th place after failing to get by Lance Stroll and into the top 10.
A cloud of doubt hangs over the future of the 2014 GP2 champion, as a series of poor results have left his 2018 Renault drive in doubt. Despite the uncertainty, the 25-year-old will enjoy his weekend at Silverstone and is aiming to claw in some points.
"I’m really looking forward to racing in front of the home crowd," he said. "I love the track and it’s always a special weekend at Silverstone. People always turn out in huge numbers and they are very passionate which really pushes us drivers. My first Grand Prix at Silverstone was when I was six and a fan, so it’s special to be there with lots of reminiscing. It’s always a great experience."
"It’s certainly the Formula 1 track that I know the best so I’m hoping that gives me an extra boost along with all the home support. There are lots of high-speed corners which are cool to drive and a lap has a really good flow to it.
"I had my first race at Silverstone when I was 15 so I know the place pretty well! I’ve been on the podium a few times throughout my career including a win in Formula 2 and second and third places in GP2. I am going there after a fairly positive weekend (in Austria), so I am aiming to keep the momentum and get those points."

All the very best. Unless, he gets a podium, it very well may be his last in F1, in front of his home crowd.

I think this is the case. He just hasnt performed as well as Renault want or expect of him. I hope he will have a better time in another series.

I'm not even sure a fluke podium a'la Stroll would do it. If he gives Hulkenberg a run for his money and occasionally beats him, then I could see him maybe get a shot at Sauber, or maybe even stay, provided that Kubica isn't an option, and they can't get anybody better. But it doesn't look good for him at this point.

For sure it will be his last British Grand Prix, so he'd better enjoy it.

Although he's typical renta-driver at this point I fell sorry for him, because he didn't even had a chance to show what he's capable of. Maybe he's not even as bad as people think he is but Gutierez like season with unrealible car will get him out of F1.

Agreed. He has as high ambitions as all the other drivers, but luck has not been on his side.
