Absent Lewis Hamilton booed at F1 event in London

Lewis Hamilton will head into his home race at Silverstone amid a cloud of local booing. At F1's London demonstration event on Wednesday, the Mercedes driver's countrymen booed at the mention of his name.
That was because Hamilton was the only active F1 driver missing at the event. "We invited teams and drivers to join us and had a fantastic response from all the teams and 19 drivers," the sport's clearly disgruntled owner Liberty Media declared.
Earlier, Hamilton had said he would miss the event in favour of a holiday. "As Lewis posted on social media, he is on a short break until Silverstone," a Mercedes spokesperson said. Hamilton's title rival Sebastian Vettel said in London: "I don't know why he's not here."
F1 correspondent for the Daily Mail, Jonathan McEvoy, said: "Why Hamilton would stay away is almost beyond understanding." Hamilton's boss Toto Wolff said in London: "Lewis feels he is in such a tough championship fight that he needed the days off after Austria." (GMM)

Let´s be honest: the booeing fans are going to be right...
It´s a shame he let´s his team (Toto looked quite embarassed in the interview on stage) and especially the fans down..
How is this concerning his "we are role models" after the Vettel incident in Baku...
Here you see he picks those phrases when he´s benefitting from but living those phrases he doesn´t want to. This is very much Lewis-like, like i´ve seen him in the last decade..
And let´s be honest: What´s the deal concerning this event? Some 3-4hours fan work and off he goes..

Yes, it doesnt really show him in good lights. Sadly, as you say, this is very much a Hamilton thing to do. And I dont really think there is a decent excuse to miss it, especially not when its in your home country.

I don't know what petty reason he had to skip the event but it confirms once again a couple of things:
- How mentally weak he still is, even though he has improved
- The fans don't rank very high in his list of priorities
Good luck launching your music, acting, or whatever the hell kind of a career you expect to have after F1. Good luck getting British support.
If he actually has a legitimate reason he should at least give an indication of what that is. Otherwise this amount to spitting in everyone's face.

i don't know when Liberty Media send this invites out (planing begun in May or sooner), but i'm sure it was some time ago and he made vacation plans after ... when will Toto Wolff run out of excuses for him?
