The two Force India drivers of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon have been in the wars recently after a disastrous collision in Azerbaijan and a team order spat in Canada. It appears the two were at it again during the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Ocon claiming that lap 1 contact with his teammate ruined his race.

Both drivers made a quick start and were inside the top ten as they reached the first corner. Perez went to overtake Ocon and forced him wide, with the two making contact in the process. Ocon believes the incident compromised his race but is happy to have been able to stay inside the points.

"It was a pretty messy start and that compromised my race. Sergio made contact with me in urn 1, which caused some damage to my floor, but I was able to continue even though I lost some performance. In the end, we got another double points finish for the team, which is great considering how difficult the weekend has been leading up to the race."

Reflecting on his season so far, Ocon seems happy with the points he's racked up and is looking forward to the second stage of the season which will kick off in Belgium in just under a month. It will also bring back pleasant memories for Ocon, who made his debut at the Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in 2016.

"The rest of the race was very clean and we were able to resist a lot of pressure from Stoffel [Vandoorne], so I am happy with the end result. We kept our main rivals behind us today and it means we can go on holiday feeling happy. I’ve scored nearly 50 points in the first part of the season and we’ve got a healthy margin over the teams behind us. Now we can recharge our batteries and come back ready to score even more points in the second half of the year."

  • Ocon is making Perez look like Tiago Montiero. Perez needs to be dropped for some other capable driver, Ocon isn't even that special yet this happens. The car they drive is clearly capable of much more.

    • I probably disagree, looking at how Ocon jumped in a car last year and were competitive almost instantly.

Ocon needs to first prove himself by bringing more points without complainig about Perez. He surely has a good car which he should make use of than...

  • Yet again Perez gets ahead ,amd beats his team mate, and is one of the very best drivers on the grid with a serious points tally which would be even above Verstappen had Ocon not taken him out in BaKU. This guy is a serious point scorer and should be in the Ferrari next year.

Perez has beat him all season (except when Ocon smashed him against the wall at Baku), while Ocon has been as good as advertised, he has a competitive Ride, so he should be... Perez will probably never get to Ferrari, he's definitely one of the better drivers on the grid, he should probably head to Renault and finish developing that car with Hulk, who knows, may be in a couple or 3 seasons he'll have a shot at winning races....
