David Schumacher, son of former Grand Prix driver Ralf and nephew of Michael is hoping he will one day make it to Formula 1. The German is set to move from karting into the German Formula 4 series next year, competing in the team run by his father.

Michael's son Mick is another Schumacher hoping to make it into F1. He is contesting the FIA Formula 3 European Championship this year, graduating from the Italian Formula 4 series in 2016. David is hoping that he and Mick will one day be in F1 together.

"I definitely want to be in Formula 1. I would love to be in F1 together with my cousin Mick. The expectations are simply higher especially as Mick is already very fast. For this reason I raced for the first few years with the name of my mother, Brinkmann, so that the media pressure would be lower," Schumacher added.

As for who his heroes are there were no surprise answers: "Clearly I have two. My father and of course my uncle Michael, simply because he is the most successful driver of all time. But my father was also very good."

  • Would be cool to see Mick and David in F1... would be like Michael and Ralf all over again

F1 should be about driver talent, not their last names.
