Niki Lauda has given his decision on who he thinks is the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time. The debate has been rambling on for centuries, with many having different opinions on who they think deserves credit to be hailed as the best ever.
Lauda, who is a three-time world champion, claims that Lewis Hamilton is the greatest of all time. The 68-year-old, who is a non-executive chairman of the Mercedes F1 team, works closely with the Brit and played a major role in the negotiations to sign Hamilton for the 2013 season.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lauda believes that Hamilton, who is also currently a three-time world champion, is the most complete driver: "Lewis is now the greatest driver ever. Lewis. Fast. Focused. No mistakes. Brilliant in the wet. Nobody better."
Mercedes struggling in Malaysia
Following the first day of running in Malaysia on Friday, Mercedes appeared to be massively off the pace. In both the low fuel runs and the long run programmes, the Silver Arrows struggled, with Hamilton stating work needs to be done to figure out where the time is being lost.
"It's been a very difficult day," the 32-year-old said. "I've been struggling with the car today, so we have to review and try to understand where we have gone wrong with the balance. We're hoping that we're able to find our bearings overnight and regroup for tomorrow. I had a great group of people who were in front of my garage today all day long, sending really positive energy. So a big thank you to everyone there and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!"

He's One of the greatest drivers ever, not the greatest ever.. It's impossible to pick just one

Come on, he's barely in the conservation over the best ever.
Yes, looking at his stats, you could make that argument. But that is in huge part due to an utterly dominant car.

Agreed. Put Vettel or Alonso in the same car, and Im pretty sure they'd stand on equal or better footing compared to Ham. Not to discredit Ham, he is a good driver, but he isnt the best.

Even though it's hard or even impossible to make a proper comparison, to me he's probably in the top 5 with Senna, Schumacher, Clark and Alonso. He has amazing stats though. But Vettel and Prost might deserve a spot in the top 5 too.
