Pirelli have confirmed the announcement of two new tyre compounds for next season. The two new compounds will be the new extremes of Pirelli's set, with the new hyper soft tyre becoming the softest compound available and the new super hard tyre becoming the hardest compound available. The hyper soft will be coloured pink, whilst the super hard will replace the hard in being orange, with the hard tyre becoming an ice blue colour.

The introduction of the hyper soft tyre comes after lower than expected tyre degradation throughout the season, with Pirelli bringing their softest ever set of tyres to 9 of the 20 races this season. This season has also seen the return of one stop races become the normal strategy for the majority of the races, which has been rare in the pirelli era, and the introduction of the new tyre is hoped to bring more multi stop races for next season.

Enough is enough . . .hard, medium, and soft only. This phony degradation thing is hurting F1. Pit stop requirements are not racing.

Bury the two tyre rules and just get on with the racing. Up to the teams then if they think a no stopper on a hard tyre can outlast two or three sprints on the toffee tyres.

  • "the new tyre is hoped to bring more multi stop races for next season." I dont think thats what we want. We want a wide variety of options that allows many different strategies. All from a no stop Perez to a 3 stop.. well whoever burns tyres like another eat cakes.
