Formula 1 has officially revealed its new logo. In the last number of weeks, it emerged that Liberty Media was pushing for a new logo to be introduced, and this week stated that it would be done at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.
The logo was revealed on the podium and is quite different from the previous one that was introduced under the reign of Bernie Ecclestone. The 'F' is designed to look like two corners, with a simple line delivering the '1'. What is your opinion on the brand new logo?
"You cannot stitch the old logo chevron to the right," said F1 commercial chief Sean Bratches. "A number of brands, particularly in this day and age, are trying to simplify their marks to enter the digital space. Look at Starbucks, or Coca Cola which has taken the condensation off their logo to enter digital. We felt we had to go a little bit further and really retool to position us on a going forward basis."

After today's rubbish event it needs a lot more than a logo change. It needs to sort out how the cars can race, that's what they are there for not follow my leader

open up the rules. when a team can turn up the wick to get over a half a second per lap you are killing the racing. its obvious that mercedes has more hp than the even the customer teams. F1 needs to improve the racing. When u see all the passing taking place from p6 to p12 its obvious that the chassis formula are adequate. Perhaps an overboost timer like indy car and get rid of the drs this would make racing more exciting over the whole track not just at the end of straights Perhaps allow teams that are at the bottom run both drs and have more overboost

Im seriously starting to wonder if Balance of Performance isnt a bad idea in F1 after all. I found it tedious how Lexus dominated SGT earlier this season in the GT500 division. Apart from one race, which was won by Honda, they won every race up until they allowed Nissan and Honda to catch up. Its synthetic, I know, but at this rate its a choice between two plastic materials, and BoP on Mercedes would certainly be more potent than anything else thats been suggested. Im not saying we should have a weight penalty system like SGT or DTM, but BoP by e.g reducing HP would reduce distance between midfield and the top teams.

As for removing DRS: If we removed DRS this season, there would've been no way for non-Mercedes supplied teams to overtake.

@Calle, Ferrari has developed a descent qualification mode too. But I suspect Mercedes is still ahead that it can run the highest mode for more laps than Ferrari. To me it looks like Ferrari might be about to make Mercedes power advantage minimal just before the new engine formula comes in 2021.

I actually sort of like it. Of course, out of nostalgic reasons I'll miss the old logo, but this one isnt dead awful.

On the said topic, now I have gotten over the disappointment of today's event. Yes, quite like the new logo and makes a mark to break from current 'formula'. I think many of us hope for F1 to find a way to level the playing field without sacrifice to individually of competing teams and their engineering talents.
