Antonio Giovinazzi is set to take part in six FP1 sessions in 2018 with Alfa Romeo Sauber. The Italian was announced as its third driver on Saturday, as it was confirmed that Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson would form its racing line-up.

Giovinazzi raced for Sauber twice in 2017, stepping in for the injured Pascal Wehrlein in Australia and China. The 2016 GP2 runner-up added massively to his F1 experience this year, taking part in a number of FP1 and test sessions for Haas.

He will further his experience next year, running at a number of race weekends in the first practice session. The 23-year-old is also an official test driver for Ferrari.

Hopefully he does better next year. He's a great driver.
