Chase Carey has hit back at his Formula E counterpart, insisting that F1 will remain the pinnacle of motor sport. Formula E chief Alejandro Agag said recently he thinks the all-electric series will take over from formula one within a decade or two.
"I'm glad he has a crystal ball," F1 chief executive Chase Carey laughed to media outlets including Germany's Sport Bild. "Formula E is not our competitor. It represents something that matters to all of us - the environment - but I see it as more of a street party than a sports event," he added.
"People who've been there say they had fun because there was music and good food, but formula one is watched worldwide and we now have the opportunity to take it to a new level. And I believe other series can help us, because they create interest. But the top series is and remains formula one," Carey said. (GMM)

Electric motor racing could very well be the future of motor racing, but if it is I think F1 will switch when the tech is ready, and I dont expect any other series to truly challenge them as the pinnacle of motorsport.

Pinnacle of motorsport? Not with the Disneyfication of F1 Mr Carey and his colleagues are imposing. For the first time in many years I find myself completely uninterested in the impending F1 season. Last year I watched far fewer races on TV notwithstanding a pay-to-view subscription. Come contract renewal time, we may well drop it.

As if Ecclestone was healthy for F1...

@Sperx then maybe it's time for you to stop watching altogether... this new management seems to bring you so much grief. It will spare you the aggravation of watching a "Disneyfied" (whatever the hell you meant by that) sport, and for the rest of us the nuisance of another fan whining about the efforts made by Liberty to expand and improve the brand.

@ajpennypacker what he mean is that Mr. Carey and his shit company turns FM 1 into same shit you have to all your sportsevents over there. Personal I hate all your shit sport and Circus. Biggest mistake was that Bernie sold it to them. Hope you got the point and if not I will repeat it again;). That said...I look forward to take a month exploring your beautiful country in a Motorhone soon:)

@RenaultFM1 for a European you do a good impersonation of a Donald Trump supporter. Aggressively ignorant and uninformed. Also, you failed to make a proper argument. If it helps for future interactions, I actually agree that Formula 1 should not become like the NFL, Boxing, Indy, Nascar, or anything like that. It would be a disgrace and it would destroy the F1 brand. That being said, I disagree that Liberty is trying to make F1 more like circus-like sports like Nascar. There, now try to make a point without going apoplectic about the disagreement.

Chase should look at how Americanization is affecting F1, and it is not in a good way.

You call it Americanization, the rest of the world calls it modernizing the sport. What exactly did Liberty do that was so awful? Grid girls which nobody on tv ever saw? Changing starting time by 10 minutes so networks around the world have extra time to tune in and see a few minutes of the show before it starts? Finally getting into digital with more videos, and presence in social media? Please... I'll give you the only truly 'American' thing they did was the ridiculous intros in Austin last year, but that was one time experiment and Texans seemed to love it. It was not my cup of tea, but I'm ok with the show being adjusted slightly to fit the culture of the host country.

@AJPENNYPACKER. This whole 10 mins past the hour thing is a complete load of crap. Are USA time zones 10 mins slower than the rest of the world? So everyone turns the tv on at 10 past, job done. I cannot believe that any network as you imply starts F1 coverage as the red lights go out. Absolutely bizarre.

@ROGERF1 Frankly I don't know whether it matters that much or not. I assume it matters (i.e. $$) somewhere if Liberty made the change. My point is that it's largely irrelevant. I don't understand why some people got so worked up about a 10 min delay.

FormulaE will become the pinnacle when the cars can run a full race distance and can run on F1 Grand Prix tracks. Until then, Carey is mostly right, it is just a street party. As for the Americanization of F1 that's just a bunch of nonsense that fans talk about when there is no real news. It will be Americanized when instead of having to get up and watch races at 6am to accommodate European audiences, the race times will be adjusted to a reasonable hour over here in the states. And that will be OK WITH ME! Until then, quit your whinging!
