Robert Kubica is reluctant to comment on Williams' poor start to the 2018 season. There are already rumours that the Pole and reserve driver could eventually step in to replace either Lance Stroll or Sergey Sirotkin, should Williams' situation not improve.
Lance Stroll criticised the team after Australia, and Russian Sirotkin qualified 19th in Melbourne. "It would not be entirely correct for me to say what I think, because it's not my role," Kubica told Eleven Sports. "But I think that Lance Stroll did a pretty good job. It was not easy, because he lost preparation for qualifying and when you lack experience, that is very important. That is why Sergey Sirotkin faced such a difficult task," Kubica added.
"After Barcelona, I said that to get into Q2 we need to be about two seconds from the leaders. In the end the deficit was about 2.2 seconds. What will happen in the future is unknown," Kubica added, "but if we really look at the situation, it was difficult to expect something else at this point." (GMM)

I beleive that we will see Kubica on the grid in one point of this season.
Stroll and Sirotkin are still very young and there is potential in them but they are just not good enough (yet) to be the 1st choice.
We have seen what age means in Red Bull's result this weekend and Williams should have been aware of that given their long history in F1.

The people who paid millions to put Stroll and Sirotkin in those cars probably believe otherwise.

If a driver has a good resume there would be no discussion. My suggestion would be to increase the requirements for a super license.

It's to early to judge Sirotkin or Stroll giving a place to Kubica. Sergey needs time to learn all the new things including avoiding plastic bags. Australia wasn't a good place to overtake so we don't know the real pace of almost every team. However its a fact that Williams is strugglin. Last year Massa scored some points at 1st race while Stroll was out due brakes problems. Next couple races will show the true. But to be hones I think they will fight with Saubers and Toro Rosso at the back of the pack.

Agreed, it is way too early to consider replacing one of the drivers with Kubica. If they're no further along midway, then maybe it will happen but even then I doubt it. The amount of money that Stroll and Sirotkin provide surely offers them some security.
