Williams needs more time to fix car issues

Paddy Lowe says Williams' problems will still take more time to solve.

Russian driver Sergey Sirotkin admitted the 2018 car was "the slowest" in the field in Canada, indicating that Williams is struggling to fix its issues.

"The problems that we had in Canada are the same we have had since the beginning of the season," technical boss Paddy Lowe said.

"We'll deal with them as soon as we can. They are related to aerodynamics, and the solution takes time," he added. "We understand the causes but it's still not easy to eliminate the problems."

Lowe said the situation is difficult on the team, from the drivers to the mechanics and beyond.

"It's a difficult time for everyone, especially the racing team at the track, because the same amount of work is done regardless of whether the car is fast or slow.

"It's important to work with a good morale, and that's hard when there are obvious problems with the car," he said.

Lowe also said Sirotkin and his teammate Lance Stroll "have the right attitude".

"They're not lacking motivation or energy," he said.

"In difficult situations, some drivers start to lose their temper and it can emotionally affect everyone," Lowe added.

"I've worked with an excellent driver in particular, who won many races and more than one title, who at the end of a race would say whatever he thinks. So different drivers behave differently in this or that situation.

"But this does not happen here -- I don't have to worry about it."

  • They will need more than time. I think they should just give up on this season and focus on the next. Maybe put an upgrade here or there. But if Williams cant be competitive at Canada, they wont be competitive anywhere.

  • They should give up this year and focus on next year.
What an awful decision it was to take two young guns. They should keep Massa and take Sitokin as reserve driver. That would show the potential of the car. I know Felippe wouldn't make any miracles but these current guys don't know how to deal with that car.

  • Fools to keep wasting money on a dog of a car and a season which they now have no hope of improving in. The place needs a major shake up. Get rid of 30% of staff, save some cash, focus on 2019

    • Reducing staff when they need to step it up is a mistake. Better to retain their current staff and simply work harder with a sounder car for next season. Or maybe even invest some of the profit they've now made from F1 3 years in a row Into their F1 project.

This is a joke, and such a shame for williams...

In french it is said as nil point., in strolls words "whats the point, the car is last, the team is last.....

Having worked for Williams indirectly some time back, i can imagine what the life in the factory is like.

Even Robert is truthful the cars a dog. and lucky i dont have to drive it all the time.. lol

Maybe we could open a pray page to see if it helps williams, rofl

Since this season is ruined anyway, I think they could use it for experimental purposes, test new stuff, play around with configurations etc, use the season totally as a testing period for 2019 in mind.
