Stoffel Vandoorne has confirmed that his chassis is back to normal after incurring issues earlier this season. McLaren confirmed that an unusual issue was hampering the Belgian's car for a number of rounds, which was the main reason behind his lack of pace.

But at the Hungarian Grand Prix, Vandoorne was running inside the points before a mechanical problem forced him to retire. The 26-year-old verified that his chassis is operating efficiently again, and is happy that he has his car back to normal

"It is back to normal and that's positive," Vandoorne said. "It was good to have a normal weekend again. I had a normal Friday, where I was working on the set-up, instead of having to go after all sorts of other things, which was nice, so I'm satisfied."

Vandoorne's seat at McLaren is in doubt for 2019, with rumours linking Carlos Sainz to the Woking team. Currently, Vandoorne is sitting in 16th place in the standings on thirteen points having last scored points in Azerbaijan.

    • I wish they had be clearer on this, especially if they knew about it for a while. Stoffels's reputation has taken a big hit this year.

    • Clarity and honesty isnt McLiaren's forte as of present sadly. Or at least up until now. Mind, they said they had fixed it another while back too, some one or three weeks before the summer break. So either they didnt fix it back then, or they had to fix it again.
