Haas team principal Guenther Steiner says he has no pity for Mercedes' customer teams Force India and Williams. The aforementioned teams have slipped down the pecking order this year after Ferrari has massively improved its power unit.

At the start of the hybrid era in 2014, the Mercedes engine held a huge advantage over the rest of the field. Steiner claims that teams "were lost" if they didn't have a Brixworth engine in the rear of the car. And now that Ferrari has evolved, Steiner has admitted that it has given the American team a big boost.

"Their customers should not complain because they have had a very strong power unit during the last four years," he told Speedweek. "In the first years of the current era, you were lost if you did not have a Brixworth engine on the back of your car. Now Ferrari has overtaken them and now all criticize us with Ferrari power.

"They say: Oh, you also have the good engine. I say: Yes, we have. Just as you had in recent years. Should I do something about it? I am very happy with the situation as it is now. If the other teams have a problem, I can’t help them."

  • I were about to go on a small rant regarding Steiner being a business person, thus he is scientifically proven to lack emotions by science people in scientific experiments, but he does actually have a good point in this. Then again, thats F1: complain about the good stuff you dont have and ban it if you can.

  • I don't think anyone has really complained about Haas having a superior engine. The criticism is how they get a chassis that they didn't even help develop
How they don't even do testing because they will basically get everything else from Ferrari.

I don't think Haas got much help from Ferrari regarding the chassis. The help they got seems to be more aero related.
