A new yellow line has been added at Turn 7 of the Marina Bay Street Circuit to warn drivers against abusing track limits. The line was added on Friday evening after both practice sessions and will act as the marker for the furthest the driver can push on the exit of the corner.
Turn 7 has enough run of space that allows drivers to run wide and rejoin the track while gaining lap time, which occurred numerous times during Friday running. Now if the drivers run over the line during qualifying, their lap time will be automatically deleted.
"If any part of a car makes contact with the yellow line behind the kerb on the exit of Turn 7 during qualifying the lap time of the driver concerned will be deleted by the stewards," FIA race notes from Charlie Whiting read.
"If any part of a car makes contact with the yellow line behind the kerb three times during the race the driver concerned will be shown a black and white flag, any further contact with the yellow line will then be reported to the stewards. Each time any car touches the yellow line teams will be informed via the official messaging system."

Giving three chances during the race is not penalizing an infringement of the rule.
