Romain Grosjean says that he is honoured to compete in another season of Formula 1 with the Haas F1 team. The American squad confirmed on Friday morning that Grosjean would stay with the team for 2019, as would Kevin Magnussen.

Grosjean had a tough start to the season, making a number of mistakes and failing to break into the points until round 9 in Austria. However, since then he has scored 26 points to Magnussen's 20 and is continuing to climb up the driver's standings, currently sitting in P14.

“It’s impressive to see what this team has accomplished in such a relatively short time, and for someone who has been here since the very beginning, I take a lot of pride in the time, effort and sacrifice we’ve all put forth to make Haas so competitive,” Grosjean said. “I’m very happy to continue with Haas and represent Haas Automation and all of our partners. Gene Haas [owner] has built something very special – something we can make even better – and it’s an honour to be a part of it.”

Magnussen's confirmation came as no surprise, as the Dane has scored a majority of Haas' points this year. After spending just one year at both McLaren and Renault, Magnussen has found home at Haas, saying it is the most comfortable he has felt with a team.

“I’ve never been in a better situation than the one I’m in here at Haas ,” Magnussen said. “This is a team filled with racers and we’re all striving for the same thing. There’s no bureaucracy and everything is very straightforward. Gene Haas is all about efficiency, and he and Guenther Steiner have created a very efficient environment that gets the best from its people. We all believe in each other and that’s why we’ve achieved as much as we have.”

  • Anyone who thinks Haas is the best they could do, has lost it already. But, given the circumstances, its not a bad choice.

  • I really think he has overstayed his welcome. He isnt the worst, but when he is bad he is abysmal. An he has been underperforming compared to KMag for much of the season. And there are just so many options for Haas for 2019, just pick one and go.

  • Didn't know the words "lucky" and "honoured" meant the same, in French?

      If they weren't Mercedes-tied, they'd take 'em.

He's been very poor over the whole year. But good luck to him. Looking forward to hearing complaints his poor (brake ) performance next year again.

On the other hand, the more time goes by, the more it seems like this is Haas 'brand' and that Grosjean fits it quite well.
