Although he is yet to be told what his plans will be, Max Verstappen says that he will not "look like an idiot" when he takes part in the two days of public service he received from the FIA.

The Dutchman was handed the punishment as a result of shoving Force India's Esteban Ocon multiple times following the Brazilian Grand Prix. Verstappen was upset after the two made contact on track, as Ocon tried to unlap himself from race leader Verstappen.

Both drivers were called to the Stewards following the post-race altercation, with officials deeming public service a suitable punishment. But Verstappen affirms that he will not be doing work that publicly embarrasses him.

When asked about what work he'll be performing, he said: "I honestly really don’t know,” he said. “We’ll discuss, between the team and the FIA, what we’re going to do. If I agree with it, it doesn’t really matter, does it? What can you do about it? I find it a bit harsh but yeah… We’ll find a solution.”

I’m definitely not going to look silly," he added in Abu Dhabi. I think anyway I’m already very hardly treated by that, so we’ll find something suitable, because I’m not going to look like an idiot.”

    • It kinda makes sense that Ricciardo is leaving Red Bull, he was the only one there that I legit digged. The rest are no doubt very skilled, yet I cannot stand some of their comments and reasoning.

  • Not until, someone finds out why a full time F1 driver is doing the public service during the holidays.

  • Because he already looks like an idiot saying such rubbish. The kid doesn't learn so he should be given some job that humbles him a bit.

The punishment is nonsense he shouldn't have had any. Ocon deserved most of the blame on this. He's playing the victim where he was the aggressor in the initial crash so what you see in Verstappen is an response to his attitude.

    • Ocon was pushing his buttons by smiling at him and VER snapped. He has shown his weakness now to all drivers. Ocon knows how to beat him and showed it to the other drivers now, that's what pissed Max off so much.

We all know this "punishment" will be a PR thing anyway don't we? He'll talk to some kids about road safety or some crap like that (and possibly drive a car in the process).

Also worthy of note, those shoves against Ocon would have knocked Chuck Liddell out cold.
