Ross Brawn, Liberty Media's Managing Director of Motorsport and Technical Director has said that he is impatient to revamp Formula 1 but that the considered approach of consulting and obtaining all the teams agreements over proposed rule changes is the right way forward.
Brawn was brought in by Liberty Media to "improve" the sport from 2021 with a new set of technical regulations and he has been very clear about his aims. Brawn wants to see, a more evenly matched field, better more exciting looking cars and he also wants to impose a spending cap on the teams.
He has been resolute in obtaining the agreement of the teams for the new regulations and he thinks it wouldn't be right to rush any changes through without their consent as their involvement is crucial to the sport.
Brawn said: "I am satisfied with the direction, I am not satisfied with the pace. It's a big challenge to move things on but I know what's going on and I can see what's happening and I know if we hadn't started this process, it certainly wouldn't have got to where we've got today".
The Briton has been clear that he would prefer to see more progress but he is working between the teams, keeping them involved and working with the FIA to find solutions to the new regulations. He is confident that Formula 1 is moving in the right direction.
"I think it is the first time Formula 1 has taken this approach and is looking at how we improve the sport in many areas. We are only two years into this journey but I am optimistic that we're going to see in the next few years the benefits of the work we are doing."
Brawn also added that he is enjoying his new role in Formula 1 after a long career including leading Benetton, Ferrari and Brawn to World Championship titles: "In a team you have the highs and lows of the races. Our own race is to improve the cars and improve the sport so here it's a more gradual pace". He added "It's going in a much better direction than it was when I arrived".

I think he's lost the plot. There is only 1 group that needs to be listened to above all others - and that's the viewers/fans - the customer is always right. Ask yourself this - how many of the fans wishes will be addressed by 2021? Enough said. Needs to get real and start acting like a leader.

I think you're right as well. Out of all the people in F1 Brawn has the most successful track record and is the right person for the job. He knows more and has forgotten more than any of us will ever know about F1.
