Williams' chief technical officer Paddy Lowe says he has no concerns that Robert Kubica's injuries will hamper his efforts upon his return to Formula 1. Kubica was involved in a life-changing accident in 2011, at the Ronde Di Andora rally, in which he suffered heavy injuries.

Kubica will be driving a Formula 1 car competitively for the first time since the 2010 season having worked his way back to fitness following the accident. Lowe has stated that Kubica is 100% ready to return to Formula 1 and although his driving style has been altered he will be back up to top speed.

"It is clearly something we had to consider in the selection, because you can't pretend that is not an issue, or potential issue," Lowe admitted. "But now we've made our decision and we are confident that Robert is absolutely top class and ready to return to F1."

Referring to the injury when Kubica nearly lost his right arm Lowe said: "I don't even think about it anymore, it is just not a factor. Robert is our driver, he is 100% competent, he is 100% committed, we are 100% committed and we'll just go with that. Maybe other people from outside may bring that up, but it is not even in our minds."

It might have something to with increase the value of KUB so RUS would look better when he beats him wit a great margin. Otherwise RUS just won over a disabled ex-driver who are way beyond an athletes optimal peek age. And that would disappoint Wolff and RUS wont be able to take BOT place in Mercedes to 2020. I would say i has all to do with that rather than KUB sponsor money.
