Williams has announced that Rokit will be its new title sponsor following the departure of Martini. Williams and Martini worked together from the start of the turbo hybrid era, but saw the deal come to an end at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Williams will now be known as Rokit Williams Racing. Rokit is a telecommunications company based in the United States. It is planning on launching a 3D-capable Android phone in the future, and also sponsors the Houston Rockets NBA team and the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL.

Williams fields an all-new line-up of Robert Kubica and George Russell this year. The Grove-based squad endured a troublesome 2018 campaign that saw it end up bottom of the constructors' championship with just seven points.

"We are delighted to welcome ROKiT to our team as our title partner for the 2019 season and beyond," said Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams. "We share many similar values and aspirations with ROKiT; primarily putting engineering and innovation at the core of everything we do in our pursuit to be the best – the perfect platform from which to start a partnership."

Glad to see all teams with sponsorship. Wasn't worried about the works teams or Red Bull/Toro Rosso, and after Stroll bought SFI and Alfa joined the grid, there was only McLaren, Williams and Haas left. McLaren are racking up sponsors it seems (have you had that swedish co-co?), now Williams got backing. Then of course there is Rich Energy backing Haas, but has anyone actually had a Rich Energy drink?

    • No I haven't, and I can't find any images of it. I certainly haven't, but I find it pretty likely that it'll probably taste like most energy drinks: a mix of sugar and hedgehog piss...

    • Because they are 'brand' new. Its an encouraging sign to see newer businesses choosing F1.

  • The guy behind ROKiT Jonathan Kendrick, once was a Goodyear engineer to Williams. So, there's a link there.
