The liveries for the 2019 W Series have been released ahead of the final test that will determine the full entry list for the maiden season.

The all-female racing category will support the DTM Series this year. Over the winter, it has been whittling down entries to form the final grid.

A four-day test will now take place in Almeria, Spain to determine who will fill the seats for the 2019 season. The test gets underway on March 23, and the final successful drivers will be announced on March 28.

"It’ll be much more of a race-focused programme than before," said W Series Race Director Dave Ryan.

“Obviously we’ll be recording lap-times, and the drivers’ pace will be important, but we’ll also be looking at their rate of improvement throughout the test, and the ability of each driver to work technically and productively with engineers and mechanics, in addition to their stamina and consistency over longer runs.”

"The cars will debut the new W Series livery, which introduces five different, but extrovert, colour ways.

"Each combination allows space for prominent for the future positioning of the driver’s name and national flag, as well as her own race number, as specifically chosen by each driver, once the final grid has been finalised."

I don't get the predominant use of "girly" colors, given that they want to make male and female drivers equal.

    • That was exactly what I was thinking.

Is there such a thing as "girly" colors? More likely you have a personal preconception you need to work at getting rid of.

    • It isn't about our preconceptions, it's about the established notion that pink and purple are "girly". See the pink ribbon and other things associated with women. I like those volours, albeit neither are favourites, however I think that it was a bad idea to to put them on the cars just because women will drive them.

  • I'll watch some to see if the racing is any good. Would like to see some aggressive women's racing.
