Masi to continue as race director in Bahrain

Michael Masi will continue to act as Formula 1's race director at the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend.
Masi was called in on short notice two weeks ago at the Australian Grand Prix following the sudden death of Charlie Whiting.
Whiting died of a pulmonary embolism on the eve of the 2019 F1 season, on the day before the on-track action kicked off.
The FIA has not yet confirmed what it plans to do as a long-term solution to fill the gap that Whiting has left. The Briton performed several roles throughout a Grand Prix weekend, with some of his former colleagues labelling him as 'irreplaceable'.
"As for the loss to F1, Charlie really is irreplaceable by one person. He's going to be greatly, greatly missed for a long time to come," said ex-F1 deputy race director Herbie Blash.

I actually think Smedley might be good for the job. He has the right kind of experience and seems to be respected widely by the drivers. He showed at Williams he's not too good with the pressure but Charley hardly ever did press interviews anyway.

You can bet there won't be a single person replacing Whiting. There'll be a series of people to carry out his role.

I agree with that sentiment Fergal, though there might be a kinda leader fella of a group of people. The kinda competence Whiting had won't be replaced very easily, for sure.
