McLaren pushed to change multiple power unit elements for Sainz

Carlos Sainz has received a number of new power unit elements for the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend.
On Thursday, Sainz confirmed that his MGU-K was beyond repair after he retired from the season-opening race in Australia two weeks ago. The Spaniard's Renault power unit caught fire early on in the race which forced him onto the sidelines.
The FIA has confirmed that as well as a new MGU-K, Sainz has taken on a second internal combustion engine (ICE), turbocharger and MGU-H.
Drivers are allowed to use three ICEs, turbochargers and MGU-Ks throughout the season before they are dished out penalties.
Similarly, two MGU-Ks, energy stores and controls electronics can be used before penalties are handed to the driver.
It is not yet known if the replaced parts can be repaired and used later in the season. If not, it puts Sainz in great danger of receiving a grid penalty at a race in the future.
No other driver has taken on a new power unit element for the weekend ahead.

Aint that kinda a bad idea? Will be less parts to play with for when Renault release upgrades.

Reliability of upgrades can be questionable again. I do see the irony though in my previous statement. :D

Absolutely, looking at Renault's pretty unreliable flow of unreliable upgrades this era, that's a valid assesment. But I'd prefer to have some degree of margin to gobbling it all up day 2.
