The second and last day of the in-season test in Barcelona was the fastest day for Nikita Mazepin. Nyck de Vries' teammate in Formula 2 drove a 1:15.775 in the Mercedes, which made him the only one to do so under 1 minute 16 and 1 minute 17.
The last hour of the morning session was messy with three red flags and also in the afternoon session not everything went smoothly.
Twice a car was stranded on the asphalt and in both cases it was in turn 10. First Sergio Sette Camara was the victim. He was allowed to take a seat in the McLaren in the afternoon, but was only able to make 19 laps due to a broken car.
At the end of the session Alexander Albon also came to a standstill, which meant that the session was over prematurely.
Albon made a good impression, because in the last hour of the session he recorded the second time of the day on behalf of Scuderia Toro Rosso. The British Thai did give 1.3 seconds on the fastest time of Mazepin.
Antonio Fuoco completed the top 3 of the day in the first Ferrari. However, he was one and a half seconds behind Mazepin.
The second Ferrari, which was used by Pirelli to test prototypes of the tyres for 2020, was placed fourth by Charles Leclerc.
The Monegasque was fractionally faster than Kimi Raikkonen. Jack Aitken followed for Renault on P6, followed by Kevin Magnussen of Haas F1, Nick Yelloly of Racing Point, Nicholas Latifi of Williams and Dan Ticktum of Red Bull Racing on P10.
Mazepin was the fastest driver of the day, but with 128 laps he was also the most productive driver. Ferrari was also productive, as Leclerc drove 127 laps for Pirelli and Fuoco went around 120 times at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
It was a good day for Pirelli anyway, as Lance Stroll added 119 laps to the total of the tyre testers in the Racing Point.

It’s clear that Mercedes has the best car and you don’t have to be the best driver to be the fastest.

As the man who managed to grab a title and win every race of the 2017 season using a McHonda, I definitely feel up for it! ;D

Well yeah. :) Although, I am not trying to speak in favour of my driving skills, rather in favour of that Mercedes car.
