Esteban Gutierrez took the Mercedes W07 out at Sonoma Raceway in California over the weekend at the Sonoma Speed Festival.
The Mexican, who raced three seasons in Formula 1 with Sauber and Haas, drove the car that delivered Nico Rosberg his world championship in 2016.
Gutierrez smashed the circuit lap record by almost 4 seconds, setting a 1:17.425. Watch below as the 27-year-old lapped the Sonoma track.

Pretty cool. It's an ok track in the wine country. Not very practical for a modern day formula 1 race though. Noticeably absent are the huge grandstands and there are not many large hotels in that area to accommodate a huge influx of visitors. Nice to see Esteban behind the wheel of an F1 car still.
