The champion of the W Series in 2020 will be rewarded with 15 points towards a Formula 1 race super licence.
Formula 1 drivers require a super licence in order to take on a full-time race seat, with 40 points collected over the course of three years needed to obtain it.
This year, the all-female W Series enters its second year of competition and will reward super licence points for the first time.
The winner of the title will claim 15 points - the same amount as the champion in the WTCC, Supercars Championship, NASCAR Cup Series, Indy Lights, Formula Renault Eurocup, Euroformula Open and Super Formula Lights.
Drivers who finish in the top eight will receive points as follows;
Championship Position | Points Awarded |
1st | 15 |
2nd | 12 |
3rd | 10 |
4th | 7 |
5th | 5 |
6th | 3 |
7th | 2 |
8th | 1 |
Jamie Chadwick, who won the championship in 2019, has returned to the series to defend her crown.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the W Series would support two Formula 1 Grand Prix events in the US and Mexico later this year.

15 points what are potentially worth nothing, because the W series is a nice thought but a mistake.
