Williams has announced the signing of David Worner and Jonathan Carter in an attempt bolster its technical team following a difficult couple of years.
Worner will hold the role of chief designer. He is currently working for the Red Bull/Toro Rosso Synergies initiative and has over two decades of F1 experience under his belt.
Carter began his F1 career at Arrows before moving to McLaren in 2002, working on the structure and design of the car. Since 2015, he has held the role of head of composite design at Renault.
Williams also declared that Adam Carter has moved to the role of chief engineer.
"Dave and Jonathan bring enormous experience, knowledge and skills to the Williams team, and we are delighted that they are joining us in the near future," said Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams.
"They will strengthen our design capabilities and work closely with Adam Carter, our Chief Engineer, and the other senior members of the Engineering team on the design and development of the next generation of Williams F1 cars.”
Williams endured a difficult 2019 season, as it ended the championship at the bottom of the standings with one point to its name.
For the 2020 campaign, it has recruited rookie Nicholas Latifi alongside George Russell, who enters his second year in F1.

Love the signings. Waiting on a particular firing still... *cough* Claire

They need more than just the one firing. Nothing less than a complete purification and restructuring will help them at this rate, I feel.

Agree, Calle. I've always wondered about your alias Calle.itv. Here in Mexico calle means street. Is it the same in Scandinavia? I suspect not, so what is the meaning? Please pardon my ignorance.

No need to pardon, mate! :) I know Calle means street in many latin nations (same in Italy and Spain), but here in Scandinavia, Calle is a name (or a nickname for men named Carl, which means "man" or "free man"). So my actual name is Calle, and itw is short for my usual "internet alias" Illirey. :)

And by the way: always feel free to ask. I tend to enjoy the discussions I have with people here, regardless of topic. :)

Think they may need him, for driving that milk-float this year ;p
Lets hope the budget gets em more than a go faster strip on it and a free yogurt

I hope that Williams can right the ship. When Sir Frank was at the helm he provided the leadership needed for the team to thrive. The team needs leadership at the top to ensure the work done by all these great pieces that came from other organizations can continue their good work. Change at the top need to occur as well.

Agree. But nepotism seems to run rampant at that team. In all fairness how could any of us fire our daughter, unless of course she has done such a dismal job as CW has done.

Might just be what they need. We'll see. I'll be impressed if their car is actually ready for pre-season testing this year. Kind of feel sorry for the drivers being managed by Claire. I just don't see them being successful with her at the helm. Please prove me wrong CW.

If they don't have some uptick in fortune this year I'm gonna lose it.
