Russian Sergey Sirotkin has been drafted into a race in Formula 2 for one event with his former team. He will sit in for Alex Albon who is not racing this weekend due to health reasons.
Renault’s Sirotkin raced in GP2 with ART for two seasons while also working with the Sauber F1 team. Albon finished runner-up in GP3 last year and made the step up to F2. He has scored points in all six races so far this season and sits sixth in the driver standings.
"First and foremost, I would like to wish a swift recovery to Alexander Albon," Sirotkin said. "I am very happy to be back behind the wheel of the F2 car. I had two great years in the championship and when ART asked me, I happily agreed to take part in the Azerbaijan round.”
