Raffaele Marciello will make a return to Formula 2 this weekend in Austria, as the Italian has secured an outing for Trident. He will be taking the seat of Sergio Canamasas who in turn, moves over to the Rapax team.

Marciello made his debut in GP2 in 2014, contesting each year until making a switch the Blancpain series for 2017. He now takes a seat at the Red Bull Ring in the re-named Formula 2 series.

Along with his experience in the series, Marciello also has experience of the Trident, as he raced for the Italian team in 2015. Canamasas, who is the eldest driver in the grid, moves over to Rapax to partner McLaren junior Nyck de Vries.

These developments mean that Johnny Cecotto is without a seat, having claimed a podium at the Monaco sprint race. Alex Albon also returns to ART Grand Prix after missing the last round in Baku, as he fractured his collarbone while training on his bike.
