The Formula 3 Euro Series will contest the 2012 season with a new tyre partner. With immediate effect, the single-seaters of the planet's most competitive young-gun series will be shod with high-performance racing tyres supplied by Hankook Tire. The two-year deal signed by the 'Formel 3 Euro Serie Vermarktungs GmbH' and the Korean manufacturer guarantees both parties involved a long-term planning reliability.
DTM - the platform all the Formula 3 Euro Series rounds will be held on - switched to Hankook tyres as early as 2011 and the DTM drivers were very happy with the performance of the Hankook racing tyres, in their debut season.
"We are truly delighted with now being not only the partner of DTM but also of the Formula 3 Euro Series, the most important young-talent series in European motor racing," said Manfred Sandbichler, Director Motorsport Hankook Tire Europe. "Promoting young drivers is Hankook's heartfelt wish and therefore, we love to support the driving skills of the young talents competing in the Formula 3 Euro Series with our Ventus tyres. We are looking ahead to our first joint season with a lot of excitement and wish all the teams and drivers success and - of course - the necessary 'Driving Emotion'."
With their involvement in DTM and the new partnership with the Formula 3 Euro Series, tyre manufacturer Hankook now bundles synergies. Consequently, the planet's most competitive young-gun series and its gifted drivers will be supplied with newly designed top-class racing tyres.
"The DTM partnership between Hankook and ITR was a particularly good one right from the beginning," said Walter Mertes, ITR board member Marketing and Sponsoring as well as Managing Director of the Formula 3 Euro Series. "The quality of the tyres, the development and the service, too - the entire package just couldn't have been any better. ITR as long-term promoter and supporter of the Formula 3 Euro Series is delighted with having the opportunity to also supply the young Formula 3 drivers with top-class tyres, in cooperation with its proven partner Hankook."
The new control tyre was used for the first time in the pre-season tests held on 17th and 18th March, 2012, at Valencia as well as on 21st and 22nd March at Barcelona - and the young talents were very happy with the tyres supplied by the Euro Series' new South Korean tyre partner. "The Hankook tyres are really good," said Daniel Juncadella, who is going to contest his third Euro Series season, this year. "They deliver on a very constant level and feature neither a major peak nor a massive drop in performance. So, they allow for completing a big number of laps on virtually the same level. Altogether, I have to say that I'm really happy with the new Hankook tyres."
