Mick Schumacher has revealed he aims to race in Formula Three next year.

The son of seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher recently missed out on the German F4 title, although he remains in contention for the Italian F4 crown.

Now he has planned his next move as he looks to emulate his legendary father.

"I hope now to compete in Formula Three," he said. "If I were offered that opportunity, I would focus fully on Formula Three. Of course it would have been nice to win the [German] championship this year, but we rounded off the season by clinching the team championship [for Prema]."

There has previously been talk of him being fast-tracked to F1 like fellow teenager Max Verstappen, who is only two years his senior.

However, Schumacher insists he will take his time on his way to the top.

"With every race and with every year, you get better," he insisted. "Every mistake is valuable. You can only learn from them and make sure that they don't happen in the future.
