Daruvala dominates race 3 to claim his maiden victory

Jehan Daruvala took his first victory in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, holding the position from Maxi Gunther in the early stages of the race. Despite coming under huge pressure from the Prema driver, Daruvala held on to claim his maiden win with Carlin.

The main fight again including the charging Lando Norris and the two Hitech drivers of Jake Hughes and Ralf Aron. Norris passed Hughes, elevating him to fourth after searching for the best place to pass his fellow Brit. From one Hitech to another it was a waiting game with Aron. Norris tried to do a similar move to the one he did this morning to pass Aron but the Estonian was defensive and not letting Norris get by easily. In the end, Aron succumbed and made a mistake, losing his third place to Norris.

There were two full course yellows featured in this race,  with first one coming out after Mick Schumacher and Pedro Piquet collided. They were running close together and Piquet was either going to make contact with the wall or Schumacher, sadly for both drivers it was the latter. Piquet clipped the Prema’s right rear, meaning Schumacher had to pull over to the side then and there, whereas Piquet carried on before retiring himself.

The second full-course yellow made its appearance after the unlucky Harrison Newey was hit and subsequently spun around by Tadasuke Makino. Newey was able to keep going while Makino had to stop on the side of the racetrack at the hairpin.

Callum Ilott lost places at the start and was running in fourteenth at one time before finishing ninth behind Ferdinand Habsburg. Joel Eriksson who is also in contention for the championship managed to finish seventh. Both drivers managed to score points during a tricky weekend due to lack of luck and pace.

David Beckmann who has been showing good form this weekend continued that by finishing sixth after starting outside the top ten. He had the Norris, Aron, Hughes fight in front of him and behind he had Eriksson, Habsburg, Ilott and Nikita Mazepin rounding out the top ten.
