Formula E team Venturi have set two new FIA world speed records for an electric vehicle.

At the Bonneville salt flats in Utah, USA, the Venturi VBB-3 did two runs, 341.4 miles per hour (549.43kph) and 358 mph (576 kph) over one mile in both directions to break the electric vehicle speed record.

"Each time enjoyed driving the car and achieving this performance. But at those speeds you have to focus on your task not on your emotions. I know we can go further," said Roger Schroer, who drove the car during the runs. "This week the track was good. No main vehicle instability. Much better than the last days during tuning and testing. We always have to be patient and wait for the track to be ready."

An attempt at the record was previously made by Venturi in 2013 but inclement weather hampered their efforts.
